How to hack your own creativity

This one is for the people who think they ‘don’t have a creative bone in their body.’ Being creative can be quite exhausting, even for the ultimate creative types. Here’s some ways you can unlock your potential and get your creative juices flowing.

Read a book or something that inspires you before bed

What you do before bed can either help or hinder your creative mind. When your brain is relaxed you can start creating new connections and pathways. Some of my best ideas have come to me as an epiphany in the middle of the night!

Restore your creative spirit

If you think about some of the most interesting people you know, they probably have a lot of experiences or information to share with you. This doesn’t just magically appear; they actively source this inspiration. Whether it’s going to an event, watching a movie or taking someone out for coffee, find what inspires you and restores your creative spirit.

Personally, I like to restore my creative spirit and energy by travelling, trying different food and wines, enjoying different experiences and meeting new people.

Listen to music

Use music to steer your imagination. Music can have a physical effect on you both consciously and unconsciously. Next time you have a brainstorming session, start playing some music that will help you innovate.

Get out of your comfort zone

This is something that a lot of people struggle with but it’s also a great way to fuel your creativity by experiencing new things and creating memories. Make a promise to yourself that you’ll try one thing out of the ordinary.

Go somewhere different

Mix up the environments where you’re trying to work on something creative. Wherever you go, there will be different people, scenery, sounds and smell. All of these things can fuel your creativity and inspire you. Try different paced environments too such as a buzzing coffee shop or a quiet river side location.

When it comes to hacking your creativity, the options are endless and it really comes down to what inspires YOU.
